I have not been able to get out and bird lately as
I recover from a shoulder surgery that makes it
impossible to hold binoculars with two hands (one
hand only is NOT recommended) but was able to get
out very briefly at the Fill yesterday and
struggled with the one hand. I saw what I was
almost certain to be an American Kestrel fly by
but was not able to raise the glasses to confirm.
I assume it was the same bird Connie reported
today. And yes, there definitely has been a
significant fall off in Kestrel sightings - here
and I beleive throughout western WA. The
highlight at the Fill though was seeing (all at
one time) four (4) Scrub Jays in the grove behind
the Urban Hort building. I had only seen two
individuals previously.
