Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday April 7. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On April 5 a RUFF was seen with 100 GREATER YELLOWLEGS and one LESSER
YELLOWLEGS at the Denman Wildlife Area near Medford. A YELLOW-BILLED LOON
was seen April 5 on the Siuslaw River near Florence. A HORNED PUFFIN was off
Coos Bay March 31.

A heavy VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOW movement during the week brought small numbers
of ROUGH-WINGED, CLIFF, and BARN SWALLOWS. YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRDS,
ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHERS, and ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS were also arriving.

A raft of over 50 HORNED GREBES on Yaquina Bay April 1. BLACK TURNSTONE,
SURFBIRDS, and a ROCK SANDPIPER were near Boiler Bay April 1. On April 2 six
WHITE PELICANS were at the Twilight Eagle Sanctuary east of Astoria..

On April 3 three GREAT EGRETS were nests in a heron colony near Kalama, WA.
Two CASPIAN TERNS were on Sauvie Island March 31. The HARRIS?S SPARROW
continues to be seen along Rentenaar Road on the Island. Up to eight
MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRDS were seen during the week at Powell Butte Park near
Gresham. A SAY?S PHOEBE was there April 5. A BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLER was
in Southwest Portland April 1. Another was on Skinners Butte in Eugene April
2. A CASSIN?S VIREO was in Silverton the same Day. On April 3 four GREATER
SCAUP and 26 WHITE PELICANS were at Fern Ridge Reservoir. Two CASPIAN TERNS
and two BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS were there April 5.

On March 30 a CASPIAN TERN was in Hood River. A BLACK-NECKED STILT was at
the mouth of the Deschutes River April 2.
