Tweets,

Evan Houston and I birded Magnuson Park this morning in what felt like
January weather. Early I had 2 Barn Owls over the meadows and several
Wilson's Snipe. Late, Evan had Peregrine Falcon, FOY Common Yellowthroat
and Common Loon.

And in between, we had several nice birds. Bald Eagle, Red-tailed Hawk,
Cooper's Hawk and Merlin. Dozens of Western Grebe, several Pied-billed
Grebe and a Red-necked Grebe nearing full breeding plumage. Several
Common Merganser near shore and 8 Red-breasted Merganser out in the
middle of the lake. A few Pine Siskin mingling with the American
Goldfinch. A Belted Kingfisher and a Spotted Sandpiper above and on the
beach. Evan found us a Band-tailed Pigeon perched on a Doug Fir over in
Windermere. We watched a very active Northern Shrike just north of the fins.

The swallows have clearly arrived: a couple hundred Violet Green and a
couple Trees. And Savannah Sparrows have also arrived - dozens on the
lawns and meadows. For the day, a combined total of 68 species.
