I told Jeff that the birders of Tweeters suggested the white raptor he
saw might have been an Osprey, and his reply is below. I think he has
ruled out Osprey. Any other ideas?

I am very familiar with Osprey, having watched them for hours up at
Baker Lake.

I got a very good view of this bird as it swooped over the neighbors
lawn and was turning as it tried to dodge the attacking crows. The back
was entirely white or might have had a slight tinge of brown. There was
no marking on the underside. Large orangish-yellow beak. I was about
40 feet away from it.
