Hello, tweeters.

Netta Smith and I walked the Nisqually walk to the end of the boardwalk this morning (4/8) in beautiful weather. We were astonished by the crowds of people and wondered how many will be there on a nice weekend day.

The only thing we saw that might be of interest was a single Caspian Tern hunting over McAllister Creek. About 8 Greater Yellowlegs and 6 Least Sandpipers were the only shorebirds. Cliff Swallows were already going into nests on the refuge HQ, and small numbers of N. Rough-winged and Barn Swallows were mixed with much greater numbers of Tree and Violet-green. Several singing Common Yellowthroats and Savannah Sparrows. The salt marsh still looks like a wasteland, and it will be interesting to see when (if?) it becomes vegetated with salt-marsh plants.
