Hi tweeters my dad, cousin and I got back from a day over in vantage and
othello. We left from acme friday morning and made a quick stop at
Bothel and found the HARRIS'S SPARROW. Up and over I 90 to old vantage
highway and found 6 sage thrashers all over also many brilliant mountain
bluebirds. Evening approaching we headed to Wanapum state park for the
night. After looking in many fir trees we found one of the LONG EARED
OWLS rousting which was spectacular. This mourning we woke up and went
to look for the SAGE SPARROW which we found at the east entrance of
Quilomene wildlife area along with some more SAGE TRASHER and two
BREWER'S SPARROWS. From there we headed to Othello but not far down Old
Vantage highway we found two CHUKAR. Next stop was the county line
ponds which had 5 redhead, 1 gadwall, lots of pintail, 2 green wing
teal, 2 BLACK NECKED STILTS and 2 AMERICAN AVOCETS, 17 SANDHILL CRANES
flew over. We found the BURROWING OWLS and LONG BILLED CURLEWS. On our
way to the para ponds before the highway drops down by the big factory
we found a flock of blackbirds and was surprised to find more than 15
TRICOLORED BLACKBIRDS. It was a great trip and it was fun to find some
new birds.
