Hello

This last week (Wed through Saturday) I taveled to the SW part of the state
to bird some counties where I have never birded before.I was joined by my
friend Ken Knittle who did a great job of helping me find some really nice
birds. I left Spokane early Wednesday morning arriving along the Columbia
River amidst howling wind, which really hampered the birdiing. Here are
some highlights from the trip.

Benton County
Paterson Unit: Long-billed Curlew, RED NECKED GREBE, White Pelicans

Crow Butte:Osprey, Caspian Tern

Klickitat County
Six Prong Rd: Yellow rumped and Orange crowned Warbler, Hermit Thrush,
Prairie Falcon, Ruby crowned Kinglet

Sand Ridge Rd: Ferruginous Hawk, Golden Eagle, Loggerhead Shrike, Say's
Phoebe, Sage Sparrow, Sage Thrasher, GRAY CROWNED ROSY FINCH (12),
Mountain Bluebird

Maryhill St Park: Lesser Goldfinch, Yellow Rumped Warbler

Balch Rd: ACORN WOODPECKER.

Bingen Lake: Virginia Rail, Tundra Swan, Violet-green, Tree, N Rough
winged, Cliff Swallow

Bonneville Dam/N Bonneville: Western and Glaucous Gull, Red-naped

BZ Corner - Greenwood Rd/Conboy Lake: Eurasian Wigeon (2), Greater

Kittitas
Wanapum St Park: Long eared Owl, Barrow's Goldeneye

Grant County - I-90: Swainson's Hawk

Lincoln County

Sprague Lake/STP: Eurasian Wigeon, Cinnamon Teal, Greater Yellowlegs.

Sprague Lake and the surronding area is as flooded as I have ever seen it.
The wet area behind the STP is setting up for a good late April and May and
perhaps the eastern STP will hold water late into the summer, which which
will make it really good for shorebirds
