In addition to burrowing owls, I have also seen quite a few examples of people harrassing or trying to harm raptor nests in trees (including landowner cutting down the tree). Most people on tweeters and birders in general are good about such things, but as Nancy pointed out Tweeters is public. I can do a google search and return many of the tweeters post, just by subject. So, for any nesting species (particularly raptors), it's best to be discreet on their location in Tweeters and share offline. It's hard for some of us to imagine harm to these species, but many people do not share our love for them and would gladly harm them if given the chance.
