Hi everyone,

Briefly late yesterday, and again briefly this morning, we had a BREWER'S SPARROW show up in the yard.? This species, per Birds of Washington, is "very rare in spring" in western WA and is quite unusual on this side of the mountains at any time.? Interestingly, I had another Brewer's Sparrow four years ago almost to the day (April 10, 2007) at my work location at the time, along Willows Road in Redmond.? That bird turned out to be a 'one-day wonder', actually about a ha lf a day wonder. ?

Two images of today's bird are at the following link - click next for the second image, which is interesting in that it shows the sparrow next to a couple Pine Siskins; not something one would expect to see in the Brewer's normal habitat.?
