Last week was a fun one for me with all the spring happenings.

Monday 4/4- I watched a Varied Thush in my north Everett yard. This was the Year of the Varied at my place - they hung out all winter. This is the latest by far I've seen one here.
At noon ,as I was driving down to the Anchor Pub in Everett ,I saw a flock of 200 or so Snow Geese over downtown Everett headed towards Stanwood - usually these
'commuters' have been moving during early morning or evening hours.

Tuesday 4/5 - saw my FOY Violet-green and Tree Swallows over the River Road Ponds between Everett and Snohomish.

Wednesday 4/6 - Working in north Snohomish the day started with bumblebee weather, changing to torrential hail storm, then back to bumblebee weather. Saw FOY Osprey at the
Everett colony, from the 10th street boatlaunch.

Thursday 4/7 - Arrived at my workplace at a private park in north Snohomish just in time to see a male Anna's Hummingbird shoot skyward like a rocket. They like the Mahonias planted
there and were doing their territorial thing. I love that little 'ting' at the end of their dive. Later saw FOY Turkey Vulture nearby - heading North.

Friday 4/8 - Everett Ospreys were up to 5 by this day.

Saturday 4/9 - Walked the two blocks south from the Anchor Pub (Everett waterfront) to Forgotten Creek (a small wild ravine) and saw a Brown Creeper, and heard FOY 'Audubons'
warbler song. Salmonberry and Skunkcabbage in full bloom. Back at the Anchor heard FOY White-crowned Sparrow singing along the railroad tracks.

The week before, an Anchor regular found a dead Sharpshinned Hawk along the street in the nearby neighborhood. It had a USGS band on it. He got a report back on it - a two year old female banded East of Fairbanks AK. So you really can find out about birds when you hang out in bars.
