Hello Tweeters,
Since I am under the Weather,I been watching my yard today. Two big birds
gliding low on to my driveway.I could not believe my Eye's there where 2
Mallard Ducks male & female. There standing not to long and know exactly
where there want to going.I have only 2 Seed feeder hanging with only
Sunflower Seeds.I notice yesterday that the area seems different disturbed
kind of digging in making small holes.Thinking that I should start rake
this area under the feeder.Well this 2 Ducks headed directly in to this
pacific direction,so there been there before.I watched this for few minutes
( 10) and seeing the male did not feeding, watching the female
eating.I learn something here.This 2 Ducks stayed 40 minutes,I also did not
know there feeding on Sunflower Seeds.I know that there like Corn ,many
years ago I was putting Corn down on Titlow Beach to attract Sparrows for
the CBC.We did had one good Sparrow one year,A Harris Sparrow. But Ducks eat
some Seeds. We having SWAMP & WETLANDS here in Fircrest what have
some Ducks, but finding this so hidden spot where I feed birds, you can not
see this place from the street.I wonder how this birds find my yard ,with
out birds can communicate among other Birds? We live here since 1967 and
never had any kind of waterfowl
here ore nearby. When Patrick made our YARD LIST he had them flying over our
house.Today I had quite few birds in my yard.The 3 Yellow-rumped Warblers
left my area on the 10 of this month ,and the 2 Hutton's Vireo on the 30th
of March. This Year been a great showing in my yard, even so the weather been
so bad.My Back Yard is under water since we took the 7 Poplar trees
out, there where huge and probable was drinking a lot of water.I still have 5
Townsend's Warblers here ,and 1 Varied Thrush what comes always after 12.00
PM.
