Hello,

I spent the day birding along the Snake River in Garfield County, an area
that I am very unfamiliar with.

Enoute. along Hwy 127 in Whitman County, I found two Barn Owl nests, with a
total of six birds. I did not find anything great in the flooded fields
south of Dusty, but they are probably worth checking for shorebirds and
waterfowl. At Central Ferry, there was an Osprey, Common Loon, Western
Grebe, and many Eurasian Collared Doves.

Entering Garfield County, I birded around the Port of Garfield and the
mouth of Deadman Creek, locating Great Blue Herons, Horned and Western
Grebes, Common Loon, Green-winged Teal, Bufflehead, Violet-Green and N
Rough Winged Swallow.

A trip to Willow Bar yielded N Shoveler, White Pelicans, a Rock Wren and
nesting Great Horned Owl.

On the next side trip to Rice Bar, there were Wild Turkey, Mt Bluebird,
Spotted Towhee, Horned Lark, Savannah Sparrow, (late) N Rough-legged Hawk,
Belted kingfisher, and more White Pelicans. There were two more Great
Horned Owl nests along Gould City - Mayview Rd and two Swainson's Hawks. In
a nearby wet area, a Wilson's Snipe announced its presence.

My final stop of the day was around the Lower Granite Dam where there were
more White Pelicans on an island in the Snake River joined by Ring Billed,
California, and Herring Gull. Also nearby were more N Shoveler, Chukars,
Canyon Wren, Ruby crowned Kinglet, Black capped Chickadee.

A fun day - 62 species.

Blessings
