Dear Tweeters,
?
In addition to the excellent Godwits and Whimbrels [see below] found by the intrepid Joan Bird and Andrea Warner on this trip to the Blaine area, one of the cars also got to see a Eurasian Collared Dove. The dove was on a wire on a road I think is called Birch Point Road, between Bay Ridge Road and Selder Road. This species has eluded me on several attempts to locate it in Whatcom County, so I was happy to have been in the lucky car.
?
Yours truly,
?

lo pi? che padre mi dicea: ?Figliuole,
vienne oramai, ch? ?l tempo che n?? imposto
pi? utilmente compartir si vuole?.

Blaine Boat Launch Report - While Joan Bird and I were leading a Skagit Audubon Field Trip today we spotted 12 or 13 Whimbrels and 2 Marbled Godwits.? The tide was still far out and these birds were feeding in the mud out near the old pilings in the area of the two huge cement structures.? Scopes were necessary to see them.?

At the end of the Marina there were several Horned Grebes in/and coming into breeding plumage - very striking and close enough for binoculars.
