What a pleasant surprise! Finally a dry and sunny day! I took advantage of
this gorgeous afternoon and birded some of my local spots on the Puget
Sound. Highlight was a single *Marbled Murrelet* in breeding plumage a
couple of hundred yards offshore at the Browns Point Lighthouse. Also seen
east of the lighthouse was a *Pigeon Guillemot*, a pair of *Common
Goldeneyes* and a couple of *Red-necked Grebes* - more or less in breeding
plumage. An additional pair of *Pigeon Guillemots *was on the west side of
the lighthouse, further out in Commencement Bay towards the Port of Tacoma.
At Dumas Bay at low tide, 250 - 300 *Bonaparte's Gulls* were resting on the
flats and feeding and bathing in the water. Mixed in with them were several
*Mew Gulls*, a few *Glaucous-winged Gulls*, two *Caspian Terns* and a single
*Dunlin. *Also on the water were two* Brant*, a number of* Barrows
Goldeneyes*, *Bufflehead,* a few remaining *American Wigeon*,* Surf Scoters
*, several.*Horned Grebes* and a single *Common Loon.*
Dash Point Dock was quiet, except for three *Red-necked Grebe*s, a *Common
Loon* and *Buffleheads*.

Good birding!
