Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday April 21. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

A large push of WHITE-FRONTED GEESE and shorebirds were reported during the
week. There were several reports of VAUX?S SWIFTS, CASSIN?S VIREOS,
NASHVILLE WARBLERS, and an obvious wave of DARK-EYED JUNCOS on April 20.

BROWN PELICAN reports are increasing along the coast. On April 17 TUFTED
PUFFINS returned to Face Rock in Bandon. The Haystack Rock birds at Cannon
Beach had already arrived. A LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE was seen during the week at
Bandon Beach State Park. PURPLE MARTINS were seen April 16 at Coquille and
April 18 on the North Spit of Coos Bay. On April 16 a male HERMIT WARBLER
was at the Beaver Creek Natural Area south of Newport.

On April 19 a TOWNSEND?S SOLITAIRE and 19 WHITE PELICANS were on Sauvie
Island. Two RAVENS were seen during the week at Oaks Bottom in southeast
Portland. Portland?s Washington Park COSTA?S HUMMINGBIRD was seen again
April 18. A CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD was at a southwest Portland feeder April
15. On April 20 a PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHER was at Mt. Tabor Park in
southeast Portland. Two SHORT-EARED OWLS and three MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRDS were
seen April 17 at Powell Butte Park near Gresham. On April 16 a PINE GROSBEAK
was seen in Gresham. On April 15, 24 loons were on Hagg Lake south of Forest
Grove. Two HARLEQUIN DUCKS, a MACGILLIVRAY?S WARBLER, a WILSON?S WARBLER,
and a HAMMOND?S FLYCATCHER were seen there April 20. That day a BLACK-NECKED
STILT was at the Tualatin NWR near Sherwood.

On April 20 a GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE was seen along Hwy 22 at the Sublimity
Sewage Ponds. The Fern Ridge Reservoir TUFTED DUCK was seen again April 17.
Five BLACK-NECKED STILTS and a RED-BREASTED MERGANSER were there April 19.

On April 15 an early WESTERN KINGBIRD was north of Sisters.
