A nice morning to bird in the Lake Hills Greenbelt. It is located in SE Bellevue and is connected by Larsen Lake at the NW and Phantom Lake at the SE. I saw four AMERICAN PIPITS in the field NE of the intersection of SE 16th and 156th Ave. SE. This is a first for this year. Four NORTHERN SHOVELERs at Larsen Lake was also a first for this year. There was also a late VARIED THRUSH near Phantom Lake. There are two RED-TAILED HAWK nests, one near Phantom Lake and one near Larsen Lake. Both nests have birds on them again this year. VIOLET-GREEN, TREE, BARN & NORTHERN ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOWS were also seen on Phantom Lake. A HORNED GREBE was on Phantom Lake one day last week. Four to six ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRDS are usually seen on the two hour walk, but I have yet to see a RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD which is surprising.
