Greetings,

Birded Kitsap County today with Brad Waggoner.? We started in the southern part of the county near the Port Orchard airport where there were many migrants about.

Highlights:

Mountain Quail - heard 2 birds
Hammond's Flycatcher - 1
Hermit Thrush - 5
Yellow-rumped Warbler - 40
Brown-headed Cowbird - 2
American Pipit - 12
Chipping Sparrow - 1

We then stopped at the north end of the Burley Lagoon and areas around Burley.

On Fenton Rd near the Burley Bible Church, we heard a familiar song that was out of place.? To our surprise, we encountered a territorial male Northern Cardinal. it was doing typical cardinal things including battling it's reflection in a car's side view mirrors.? The property owner, who has feeders, came out and chatted with us, informing us that this cardinal has been around for the last 4 years, and there have been up to 3 birds here, 2 males and 1 female.? An interesting observation and not expected! though of course of questionable origin.

Also here were 4 more Chipping Sparrows.

Our other highlights were at Point No Point, where we were joined by Vic Nelson for the remainder of the day.

Bonaparte's Gull - numbers were down, with only about 100 birds total seen in the area, so no rare hooded gulls were seen.?
BLACK OYSTERCATCHER - 4 birds seen flying by the point, then about 1 hour later, 1 more bird doing the same.
Townsend's Solitaire - 5 - 1 at Vic's property and 4 more west of Point No Point toward's Foulweather bluff.
Nashville Warbler - 1 individual in the same vicinity as the 4 Solitaires.
Chipping Sparrow - 2
LESSER GOLDFINCH - female - seen along the trail along the marsh by the lighthouse.? It was calling from the bushes and then flew in a few circles before we lost sight of it.

That's about it, a great day with great weather!

Cheers
