Hi Tweets,

Barbara and I spent an hour and a half at Lincoln Park in West Seattle this
morning, then made several stops in the Kent Valley. The BARRED OWL still is
in Lincoln Park near the nest box, and park regulars are eager to point out
the spot if you don't know where to look. A week makes a big difference. No
Yellow-rumped or Orange-crowned Warblers in the park today, though we
tallied 32 species there. The waterfront between the park and the Fauntleroy
Ferry terminal was active with nice views of HORNED and RED-NECKED GREBES, 4
COMMON LOONS, and small numbers of SURF SCOTER, HARLEQUIN DUCK, BUFFLEHEAD,
BRANDT'S CORMORANT, and a PIGEON GUILLEMOT. ROCK PIGEON nest on the
underside of the ferry dock. Further out Barbara spotted a dozen BONAPARTE'S
GULLS passing by skimming the surface, and two groups of BRANT, totaling
about 16 birds.

In the Kent Valley we stopped at Emerald Downs, S 285th St (west of SR 167),
the fields on S 204th and the mitigation ponds on S 212th St, at the latter
we found our first-of-season CINNAMON TEAL. We found small numbers of ducks
and shorebirds in the Valley, including KILLDEER, GREATER YELLOWLEGS, LEAST
SANDPIPER, DUNLIN, and a lone WILSON'S SNIPE above the marsh on S 212th St.
AMERICAN PIPITS are coming through; we spotted some at all stops -- about 40
birds altogether, 25 or so in the field at S 285th St Very few swallows in
the Valley today, we had only a handful of TREE, VIOLET-GREEN, BARN, and
CLIFF SWALLOWS.
