Today, our first of the year BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK showed up at our feeders here at the west end of the Columbia River Gorge. During the last week the number of finches, HOUSE, PURPLE and PINE SISKINS has doubled and yesterday two pair of CASSIN'S FINCHES showed up.I also prepared the three Purple Martin colonies at the Steigerwald Lake NWR, in Clark County, for the Spring season and was surprised when 4 PURPLE MARTINS flew into the gourds within fifteen minutes of my finishing up.
