Hello Tweeters,
Yesterday Loren Webster & I decided to hit the beaches for migration of
Shorebirds.The weather was sunny with no Wind .Bottle beach was our first
stop we came on time to hit the BIG GROUPS of Shorebirds start flying in
from Both sides of the beach for good viewing .Amazing no birder moved out
for disturbing the birds from there feeding!!!!!!!!

We had to wait so the birds was coming closer for good viewing , to at one
time a Falcon trying for a1 Rudy prey,but all settled a short while later.
IT WAS HARD TO SAY which Species had the most birds I say it was the
Short-billed Dowitchers,being so big and so bright in there Pumage,the other
birds was close behind was the bright breeding Plumage Black -bellied
Plovers,this birds are always so striking beautiful.There where a lot of
groups of all Western Sandpipers,and of course lot's of Dunlin's,and last so
close as always the striking darling Semipalmated Sandpipers.Our small group
missed the Red Knots,who we was looking for.This birds usual coming later in
larger groups.It was also to early for the Semi-palmated Sandpipers.So no
surprises on some Rarities.Next to Westport.many Common Loons in full
breeding plumage ,with few still in winter plumage .Lot's of Mew Gulls close
and Greater &Lesser Scoup ,Also Pigeon Guillemot. Off to Tokeland, the
tide was still high and all the birds was on the jetty,this guessing on 450
Marbled Godwit's large groups of Dowithers mixed with 7 Willet's ,1 Ruddy
Turnstone with several Black Turnstone.But there was the only Least
Sandpiper All alone, close to the piling what needed more attention but it
was a lone Least Sandpiper.
Driving out in a field on a grassy strip there was 1 Whimbrel ,3 Long-billed
Dowitchers and 6 Marbled Godwit,close to the Golf Course.
On the way home we drove to Brady Loop RD, what was surprisingly Quite.The
Osprey is again on the Nest ,Many Duck species
on all the many ponds, Green winged Teals,Lot's of female Buffleheads(no
Males) Most Duck the Northern Shovelers.
We had also 1 Female Harrier.
It was one of the best birdying with NO RAIN in a long time.
