That is an interesting question that I had never considered.? I saw several rescued birds on display at the Shore Bird Festival and of course they don't count but what if the brown booby, which isn't usually seen here, escaped and was flying over the festival.? It had been caught in a fishing net off California and was ready to be released.? Since it could fly this is not very hypothetical.? (The were looking for transport back to California by the way and not to just let it go here in hopes it found it's clan.)?? "Charlie" was a very sweet bird that seemed to love attention and the question is, at what point does he become fair-game so to speak?? Come to think about it, the question is a lot like Schrodinger's cat in the box quantum theory paradox.? Would it matter if you knew that Charlie had been released or if you were an unsuspecting viewer who just saw him flying over, presumably heading south?? If so, how would the unsuspecting viewer
know not to count Charlie???
