Beautiful day at Magnuson Park, and changes in the species distributions
are starting to appear.
Western Grebe - 6 in middle of lake
Swallows - only Barn Swallows remain; several Vaux's Swift with them
Buntings and orioles appear to have moved on
Common Yellowthroat and Wilson's Warblers in crisp new wardrobes
At least 40 California Gulls, mostly non-adult, just beyond swim platform
Caspian Tern - 3 fly-bys
Barn Owls still cruise the meadows, early
Marsh Wren - uncommon before, but now visible among cattails in the new
wetlands
Least Sandpiper - a couple of fly-overs, between wetlands and lake shore;
what can be done to create more shorebird habitat here?
