This evening, at least 2 AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS continued along the River S
drive in Ridgefield NWR.
A group of shorebirds, including LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER, GREATER YELLOWLEGS,
LESSER YELLOWLEGS
and WILSON'S SNIPE were in the wetland at the Duck's Unlimited sign.
Highlight of the visit though was seeing two
very downy and precocial, VIRGINIA RAIL chicks (tiny all-black fuzzballs
with a pale, dark-striped bill) near the
western most point along the S drive.
