Hi all,
Delia and I are just back from the New Mexico bootheel where we always spend all our?time with Delia's folks who operate a bio-research Ranch down there.? Unfortunately for the Hummingbirds, there were few flowers in the outback, so I got my BEST?HUMMER SHOTS ever which are at:

Luckily, we did get slightly?above?normal rainfall at the ranch in July, the subject of the blog.
The resident Wildlife Biologist at the Ranch, CD Littlefield (Birds of Malheur--Crane wars, etc), reported 6 sightings of PAINTED BUNTINGS on the Ranch this spring/summer, which is very unusual and suggests that Painted Buntings were making a concerted effort to get out of Texas, which may have bearing on Jo Hoffman's report of a Painted Bunting on tweeters in South SEATTLE this spring.
In other news the Christi Norman, the?dynamic and resourceful Audubon WA Project Director of the Birding Trail Maps, is currently producing the 7th and last Birding Trail Map, which will cover the heart of Western Washington.? Any Tweeters who wants an EARLY LOOK at the painting I'm doing for this map is?welcome to?look at?the in-progress paintings at

Let me know if anyone sees?a mistake?
Best,
