Hi all,
I visited Turnbull NWR this evening once again looking for shorebirds. I found the following at Winslow Pool and Ice Pond:
Killdeer 12+
Semipalmated Plover 1
Lesser Yellowlegs 2
Spotted Sandpiper 4
Solitary Sandpiper 6
Western Sandpiper 2
Least Sandpiper 2
Baird's Sandpiper 1
Wilson's Snipe 6
Not bad for a small little area of mud! Of other interest, there was one lone American White Pelican on Pine Lake with several duck species including Gadwall, Mallard, Northern Shoveler, Northern Pintail, all 3 Teal, and Hooded Merganser. I caught a glimpse of a Sora as well.
Two Trumpeter Swans were out on Cheever Lake with a few Black Terns.
Good birding!
