Good concentrations of shorebirds around the mouth of the Dungeness river yesterday afternoon as viewed from 3 crabs and the Oysterhouse.

Most notable were:

250+ Black-bellied plover (Oysterhouse)
4 Ruddy Turnstone (Oysterhouse)
1 Semipalmated Sandpiper (3 crabs)

The semi is usually a very good bird for Clallam County (only my second sighting ever for the county). It was foraging in the slough behind (south) of the 3 crabs beach, next to the road allowing close views.

Also in the area were good numbers of alcids, with an impressive 48 Pigeon Guillemont seen off of Port Washington, all within about 300 meters of each other.
