Hi All,

Sorry this is a bit belated but after the wonderful pelagic trip with
Westport Seabirds on Sunday we stopped by Bottle Beach near Westport around
4 and were delighted to find a Bar-tailed Godwit hanging out with some
Black-bellied Plovers, Whimbrels and peeps. It appeared to be an adult male
molting into basic plumage with some beautiful reddish coloration still.
The tide kept pushing all the shorebirds towards us until it got too high
and the whole flock flew to the north. Hopefully it hangs around for a bit.
