?Someone told me that raptors like to soar in circles around mid day.? Several times I?have seen hawks do this over Edmonds, and now one of the Pt. Edwards bald eagles is doing it as well.? The eagles were absent from the family tree at top of?Pine St. before their baby fledged.?? One of them has resumed perching there for extended periods of time as well as on the flat topped spar a little to the east.???
?
For the past several days I have photograhed?the eagle?leave the tree or the spar around 1:00pm and fly northeast as far as?Ctiy Park, make?a semi-circle, and return to Pt. Edwards.?? ?On the return lap it will pick up a very noisy gull escort, which will strafe it after it returns to?its perch.??The gulls' reactions are understandable, as one day?last week the eagle returned with?what appeared to be a baby gull in its talons.?
?
Tuesday I observed the eagle flying toward City Park as my son and I were driving down Hwy. 104?into downtown.? We turned west on Pine St. while the eagle circled the park.???I saw?it ahead of us?flying back?to one of its perches as we were driving up the hill.????While we turned around at the top of Pt. Edwards, the eagle perched on the flat-topped snag, where I snapped some photos.???It then flew over to the family where it continued to be?harassed?by gulls.?? It was still perched on the family tree after my son and I ate lunch at one of the viewing platforms across the street and?drove?down to the marsh.
