Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday August 11. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

The basic plumaged RED-NECKED STINT at New River continues to be seen.

Among a huge offshore feeding flock now being seen at Crissey Field State
Park and at Brookings are hundreds of ELEGANT TERNS. On August 5 a MANX
SHEARWATER was seen. Both POMARINE and PARASITIC JAEGERS are working the
flocks. On August 10 one ELEGANT TERN was at Yaquina Bay.

On August 7 a PECTORAL SANDPIPER, SANDERLING, about 100 RED-NECKED
PHALAROPES, and a SABINE?S GULL were on the North Spit of Coos Bay. Three
PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVERS were there August 9

On August 10 a SANDERLING was on Broughton Beach in North Portland. A
PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER is now being seen at Baskett Slough NWR. Two COMMON
TERNS were seen August 6 at the Willamina Fishing Ponds in Willamina. On
August 7 a WRENTIT was singing at the Griggs Mill Ponds near Lebanon. A
TRICOLORED BLACKBIRD was seen August 4 at Fern Ridge Reservoir.

On August 6 a pair of BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHERS were at the east end of
Prineville Reservoir, south of Prineville. On August 8 a BLACK PHOEBE was at
Summer Lake. A survey August 8 at Lake Abert found 4910 EARED GREBES, 1461
AVOCETS, 59,580 WILSON?S PHALAROPES, with some RED-NECKED PHALAROPES
included, and 106 BLACK-NECKED STILTS.
