Later?Thursday evening (8/11), I decided to check on the osprey nest at the Meadowdale softball complex in Lynnwood while waiting for my son to?finish tennis lessons at nearby Lynndale park.??Both osprey chicks are alive and appear healthy.?

I may have caught them making their first flights.?? The mother flew to the nearby family tree, then each chick followed.?? The first one landed on?the tree while the second one flew past and looped back to the nest.?? It took off a second time and?landed on?the opposite side of the tree as?its mother and sibling.? All three were still in the tree when I left about a half hour before sunset. ???

I never did see the father, who may have been making a fishing run.? One of the chicks ate a fish almost the entire time I? was there while the other kept crying out, which I assume?was?a demand for dinner.? Periodically the mother would cry out, as though to tell the father to hurry back with dinner. ???
