Searching for shorebirds nearby this weekend led us to find a few.



On Saturday:

Boeing Ponds had Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs.

Other fun birds that were not shorebirds include: Peregrine Falcon, American
Kestrel, Green Heron and Cinnamon Teal. It is interesting to see juvenile,
and immature American Coots too. There's still a good amount of water in
main pond as well as some in the seasonal small pond.



Fife Ponds off I-5 had Killdeer, Least Sandpipers, Greater & Lesser
Yellowlegs. It was fun to find a Green Heron here as well.



Kayu Kayu Ac Park, Richmond Beach - saw a row of flying shorebirds (probably
Red-necked Phalaropes) but they were too far out to ID for sure. Merlin at
this spot was a treat.



On Sunday:

Llama Lake [birder's nickname for this sub-division pond] - this is on the
Sammamish Plateau NE of the intersection of NE 8th St. and 235th Ave NE.
Parking is on NE 8th St.

There is there is good mud here. Lots of Killdeer & a few Spotted
Sandpipers indicate successful breeding this year.

2 Least Sandpipers and 1 Solitary Sandpiper were found around noon.

There were about half a dozen juvenile and immature Pied-billed Grebes.
