Subject: [Tweeters] Solitary Sandpiper - Okanogan

On August 16th I found a Solitary Sandpiper in the creek by the Long Swamp
campground on FR 39.

My other sightings on the high level route from Winthrop to Loomis were
fairly standard - lots of Clark's Nutcrackers and Mountain Bluebirds, and
several Townsend's Solitaires on Tiffany Mountain, and an Osprey plunging
for a fish on Tiffany Lake, which put my own fishing efforts to shame. There
were several Lewis's Woodpeckers and Eastern Kingbirds at the bottom of
Toats Coulee Road near Loomis. On the way back over Baldy Pass I saw an
unusually large and long tailed Cooper's Hawk, which I tried in vain to make
into a Goshawk. No Golden Eagles on this trip either.
