Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday August 18. If you have anything to add Call Harry Nehls at
503-233-3976.

On August 10 four XANTUS?S MURRELETS and two BULLER?S SHEARWATERS were 50
miles west of Coos Bay. A female RUFF was seen August 14 at Flores Lake. It
could not be relocated. The New River RED-NECKED GREBE continues to be seen.

On August 13 an EASTERN KINGBIRD was at Cape Arago. A COMMON TERN was at
Bandon August 17.

Two immature RED-SHOULDERED HAWKS were at Ridgefield NWR August 13. A SNOWY
EGRET was there the next day. A CLARK?S GREBE and a SANDERLING were at
Vancouver Lake August 12. Four YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRDS were seen August 15
on the west side of Sauvie Island. Three PECTORAL SANDPIPERS were at
Racetrack Lake August 16. Up to 35 WHITE PELICANS and 55 GREAT EGRETS are
now on the Island.

The Baskett Slough NWR PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER continues to be seen. On August
17 a SOLITARY SANDPIPER, two PECTORAL SANDPIPERS, and 12 MARBLED GODWITS
were at Fern Ridge Reservoir.

An immature RED-SHOULDERED HAWK was at Powell Butte August 17. On August 14
a HERRING GULL was at Tumalo Reservoir near Bend. A SOLITARY SANDPIPER was
at Wickiup Reservoir August 12. An immature RED-SHOULDERED HAWK was there
August 14. Another RED-SHOULDERED HAWK was seen August 15 in the Newberry
Crater east of LaPine.
