Tweets - I made my first visit to the new boardwalk at Nisqually today. An
amazing structure that should be great for birdwatching. I did not find all
that many shorebirds today, though. Quite possibly that had to do with my
cluelessness about where to look for what when, with regards to the tides.
Also, there was pretty heavy fog above us, so it was cold and damp.

There were hundreds of LEAST and WESTERN SANDPIPERS, about 3 GREATER
YELLOWLEGS, and a couple of KILLDEER. From the extreme end of the
boardwalk, I spotted at least 3 SEMIPALMATED PLOVER.

There were also good numbers of CASPIAN TERNS mixed in with the hoards of
RING-BILLED GULLS. I also saw an adult PEREGRINE FALCON.

On Nisqually Cut-off Rd., I had two EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVES.

I then proceeded to get totally lost driving around the area north of Lacey.
Really, I spent about 2 hours driving in circles without figuring out where
I was or how to get back to I-5. I finally did, then made the mistake of
heading to Tacoma to the SportCo ponds. Traffic was horrendous. The ponds
weren't bad though.

At SportCo ponds in Tacoma, I had about 5 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, two LEAST
SANDPIPER, a PECTORAL SANDPIPER, and a KILLDEER, along with Mallards and
Canada Geese.
