Here is something I have not seen before: While walking through Treasure
Island Park at about noon today, we stopped at the artificial "Pebble Beach"
on Lake Lorene, to look at a female Mallard with three almost fully grown
young. My wife asked me, what that little bird to right at the waters edge
was. It turned out to a lone* Least Sandpipe*r. As I was looking at it, a
head and a big eye came out of the water and started easing towards the
sandpiper. *Jeremiah*, the bullfrog from the CCR song! It lunged at the
sandpiper, but missed and the bird flew up and moved a few feet over. The
bullfrog splashed back into the water and disappeared. Survival of the
fittest!

Good Birding!
