Got back yesterday from my first WOS conference. I did the 'light' version, with just one field trip planned (up to Hurricane Ridge, full report to come), but had a blast with the time I had. I left Seattle on Friday afternoon, and went straight to Diamond Point where Adam Sedgely had reported the Tufted Puffin. It was exactly as described - I found the house with the birder-friendly sign, and scoped for about 15 minutes before the puffin appeared about 30 feet off of shore, making two dives before disappearing around the corner of the point. Other species present included Rhinoceros Auklet, Pigeon Guillemot, Harlequin Ducks, and a pair of Common Loons which were getting bumped around by a surfacing Harbor Porpoise!

I totally missed the timing with the tides, but made a trip out to Three Crabs, where I found Western, Least and Spotted Sandpipers, as well as a fair number of Purple Martins.
