The last week or so, I have been having a jolly time entering sightings from AviSys into eBird. I am up to the fall of 1989. I know, maybe I should go backwards, so as to get the current ones in there first, but I really want to go chronologically--it ends up sort of like reliving one's life, in a way, seeing all these old reports go by in order.

HOWEVER! I just ran into a horrid problem today. I am in the middle of exchanging e-mails with Jerry Blinn about it, but thought I'd ask if anyone else has had a problem such as the one I have.

After each checklist goes into eBird, I go back into AviSys. Not only do I double check it against eBird, I also go in and code each AviSys record with the attribute "EB," which I think is a slick way for me to keep track of what I've entered into eBird. During this process, I click "list records" for a certain date and place, such as "August 1, 1988 through August 1, 1988, Alleghany State Park." Sometimes, in so doing, I would see a record magically duplicate itself. For example, on that day in the park, suddenly the report shows not one but ELEVEN records of Song Sparrow in the same place on the same date! What's worse, it appears that those ten extra records for Song Sparrow have taken the place of ten other species that I really did see that day! And I never had to do a "save species for edit!" The program just did it for me--as if I'd want that.

So--while I am waiting for Jerry to figure this out--has anyone had this happen?
