Dear Tweeters,

Today (8-24-2011) I was able to find 16 species of shorebirds in Skagit County, which I think is my best.

At Viti Rocks in the very N part of the county were 35 to 50 Surfbirds, plus 2 Black Oystercatchers, ten or more Black Turnstones, and a probably Wandering Tattler that I won't count.

At Vendovi Island was a Spotted Sandpiper.

At Jensen Access were BB and Semi Plover, a W Snipe, lots of LB Dowitchers, a Baird's and a Pectoral, lots of Western and Least Sandpipers, and a few of each Yellowlegs. A Ruddy Turnstone was there from four fifteen to four thirty in the afternoon. I heard some Killdeer at my house, so that makes 16, I reckon.
