Hello Tweeters,
Today I was up to going to Ocean Shores.I was well dressed for the so cold
weather.I intend to leave here at 6.00 AM ,but listen to the Weather report
freeze Fog and maybe Icy Roads,I left at 8.00 AM being safe.No Trouble on
any Roads, but people really took it safe driving slow.I got to Ocean Shores
at 10.00 AM, and the Sun was coming out already, but the Wind making it
pretty cold. When arrived 6 other birders came also including Greg
Thompson. The first Snowy Owls where 2 big Adults,we was not even close and
there already flying away. But further on where a lot of Driftwood lays, was 4
Snowy Owls all perched each Owl on there own.
I feel lucky to choose The one Owl where a birder already sitting down
taken Photos ,the other moved on to the other Owls. After a while we
exchanged ID ,and is so happen that Garret is a ASSOCIATE with the CORNELL
OF ORNITHOLOGY,where I BEEN A MEMBER FOR YEARS.He mention particular not
going to close to this Owls now, since the way up here and looking for food
is so importuned. This was already mention by other birders on tweeters. As we
watched and did not moved to much I noticed this Owl seems so relax, us this
watching keep looking around and seems so tame.Garret was on this site
already for some time. We watched the other 4 Owls in the distance and
there all did not staying to long.Is hard to believe that I stayed almost 5
hours this on one place,so I had little time looking for other birds.
On the Ocean side 7 Sanderlings ,Sewage Ponds had on 200 Green -winged Teals
.7 Northern Shoveler 6 Canada Geese .1 Killdeer. This makes my "THIRD
INVASION YEAR" of Snowy Owls in Ocean Shores.
This is also the most time watching MOSTLY 1 SINGLE Owl this long.
