A suggestion for those of you going to Damon Pointfor Snowy Owls that will hopefully help both the owls and those who want to seeor photograph them in the future. The owls for the most part have been locatedat the southernmost half of the spit in the grassy area on the west side (right). Youcan approach along the beach from the public access (low tide to medium outgoingtides the safest) and go up over the dune at about a mile. If everyone can beconvinced to stay on the west side of the spit and observe east into the grassyarea it will avoid what we witnessed today when the 20-30 folks who showed upwere often split into small groups that completely surrounded the owls. Thiscaused some daytime flying that was good for bif photographers but probablyshould have been avoided for the benefit of the owls. If this continues, itwouldn?t surprised me if the owls abandoned the spit for quieter locations.
