Hi Tweets,

Sunday afternoon was gloriously sunny at Nisqually NWR. Heather and I re-located the SNOWY OWL wayyy out north on the surge plain. Best view was from about ? way along the dike to the new boardwalk and look due north. The bird was roughly parallel with the white backs of the refuge signs. Fortunately, it was hanging out on this side of the surge plain.

Other interesting views of white included a Great Egret within 20' of the new dike in perfect light, a Snow Goose just to the west of the Twin Barns overlook, an immature Red-tailed Hawk that was a very chocolate brown with a blazing white chest and a couple of nice white rumps accompanying two immature Northern Harriers.

American Bittern was seen from the first overlook north about 6' from the boardwalk and out on the flats were small flocks of Dunlin and 4 Greater Yellowlegs.

It was a great day to be out birding,
