Greetings Tweeters,
Had a great day at Ocean shores and vicinity today with some unseasonably fine weather to boot. Started at the end of K Strret in Hoquium with a young Snow Goose hanging out w/ 70 Greater White-fronted Goose. There were 180 Cacklers and a probable Rough-legged Hawk (lt. Imm) near by. At Ocean Shores golf course was presumably the same EMPEROR GOOSE (EmGo) that the Waggoners located last month further out on the point. The EmGo was with a large mixed flock containing Canada Geese and Cacklers across the way from the Police Station. This was about 0930. Next I was able to relocate the continuing BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER after quite a bit of searching around the Silver King C.G. and along Marine Drive and Damon Pt Rd. At least 5 Snowy Owls were out on Damon Point and others saw the Queen Eider near the base of the point. An Orange-crowned Warbler and a fly-by Swallow (sp) rounded out the unusual stuff, also near the base of the point.
Cheers and good birding...
Bill Shelmerdine
