Years ago, I worked for a large corporation in New York City. When I first
started my job, a nice young woman from the "Art Department" invited me to
the gallery to peruse the art selection and choose an item for my office. I
told her I would like something showing a bird. When I arrived, she
confessed that they only had one picture with any wildlife on it. The
picture was taken in a marsh, and the only thing in focus was the reed that
the blurry Yellow-headed Blackbird had just left.

On the topic of bad bird photos, I've long thought of putting out a book (or
at least a Web page) of photos of things that were birds until closer
examination revealed them to be leaves, rocks, funny shadows, etc. etc. Or
am I the only one whose eyes play those sorts of tricks?
