Tweets - MaryFrances Mathis and I headed down to Grays Harbor county today,
spending most of our time in Ocean Shores.

We easily found the EMPEROR GOOSE with CACKLING and CANADA GEESE at the same
golf course location off Canal Dr NE that was posted by Russ Koppendrayer
yesterday.

We then sped down to Damon Point. As we stepped onto the beach, we debated
whether to look for the "queen eider" or the owls first. I casually pointed
my scope west and immediately spotted the female KING EIDER. So we then
slogged down towards the end of Damon Point, where three SNOWY OWLS were
perched up. Photographers were everywhere.

Back at the car, we then started a search of the shrubbery and bushes for
the Blue-gray Gnatcatcher. Working long stretches of both sides of the road
turned up nothing, but then I caught sight of a bird flying towards the
campground that appeared to have yellow undertail coverts. I walked the 75
yards over to where it landed, and was rewarded with nice looks at a PALM
WARBLER. MF and I followed the bird as it circumnavigated the campground.

Off Point Brown, on the Westport side of the jetty, there was a female BLACK
SCOTER.

We also checked out the Hoquiam STP, but found nothing of note. Brady Loop
had some TRUMPETER SWANS and AMERICAN KESTRELS, but very little else, and
Wenzel Slough Rd. and Vance County Park were likewise bereft of birds.

But still, a very nice day.
