Hi Tweets...As program person for Grays Harbor Audubon I find it a challenge
to come up with interesting, even entertaining, guests to draw in not only
fellow Audubon members but the public at large. So it was with great
pleasure that this past Sunday featured Connie Sidles as our guest. This is
the second time she has graced our stage, and most who attended this reading
were also present last year. We are hoping next year brings another book and
another visit!

Her warmth, her understanding of the need we all have for the quiet
contemplation of birds and their behavior, and her ability to translate that
into a language we can all understand makes for a wonderful presentation.
What comes across is her sheer joy in the world of birds; she is a good
translator of that which moves us about nature, and I really appreciate the
way she gets that message across in this latest book, Second Nature: Tales
from the Montlake Fill, via her words, the photos of some of our finest
local photographers, and a few poems or prose.

Those of you in the Seattle area (or further afield if you are so inclined)
have a chance to hear her on December 15th at the Center for Urban
Horticulture, co-sponsored by Seattle Audubon and the UW Botanic Gardens. I
highly recommend your attendance both to hear her and to experience her
appreciation and love for The Fill and the birds that inhabit it.
