On the subject of multiple species of birds mobbing a raptor or other bird of prey, earlier this year I was standing at the main viewing platform of the Edmonds marsh?using my big honkin' lens to photograph a flock of crows chasing an adult bald eagle?south across the marsh toward Pt. Edwards.? When the eagle and its crow-tourage passed over the retention pond at the west end of the Pt. Edwards walkway, they were joined by one of the pond's resident male red-winged blackbirds.???The eagle followed?by the crows followed by the red-winged blackbird made for a humorous photo.

Conversely, this year at Pt. Edwards I?photographed a?crow?watching two robins strafe a totally intimidated juvenile Coooper's hawk.? The?evil minion of the Dark Lord?seemed satisfied just to?sit back and?view?the action from the safety and comfort of its?perch in a nearby tree.???
