I ran down to Vancouver today to see the NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD, and found it easily. It was in the background on top of a Holly Tree when I looked at a flock of 7 LESSER GOLDFINCHES in a small tree in the parking strip in front of 5405 NW Harney. I then headed down to Vancouver Lake and searched for the Snowy Owl and others but the only bird of interest was a ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER in the wetland at the southern of Old Lower River Rd. At the Shillapoo WDF&W site, north of Vancouver Lake Park, I scanned the fields at dusk looking for Short-eared Owls in this reliable site. I saw a white blob at a distance that seemed to be turning it's head, when I put a scope on It, I could see that it was an abandoned house cat. Wilson Cady
