Subject: [Tweeters] Barn Owl(s?) in neighborhoods around Magnuson Park

Yesterday, a male Barn Owl flew over my property 3 blocks north of
Matthews Beach at 5:15 p.m., flying SE to NW and doing a few raspy
shrieks as it flew. I never saw it, but sure recognized that call. I
confirmed it by listening to Barn Owl and a few other owl calls on an
owl-calls CD I have. I haven't seen any BAOW for a couple of months
and haven't heard of any sightings of them at Magnuson recently, so
it's nice to hear that old familiar call again, and exciting that one
passed over my woods!

I also received word that someone living on the wooded hill up to the
west of Sand Point Wy and a few blocks east of NE 95th St., had the
following experience recently :
------------------------
> I'm wondering if that's the same owl I saw perched on the top of a
> second growth fir just feet away from my bedroom last week. It was
> about the same time [around 5 p.m.], and because the tree is so tall
> and I could see was a white owl, I thought mayby it was the snowy...

> Almost a hundred crows were going bananas: they had it "treed" for
> about 30 minutes.
>
> Sincerely,
> Pam

So, keep an eye and ear out for "Barnys" if you live near or visit the
areas around Magnuson Park.
