Hi,

Pictures can be so deceiving. I asked for more information on the swan
ID question from New Jersey. When it came it confirmed my original thought:
it is a tundra swan. All the swans are tundra. There are no trumpeters or
hybrids.

An additional photo showed the swan to be the same size as a tundra next
to it. Also, behavior was provided-sticks neck out at 45 degrees and
vocalized-a tundra call.

The answer is that no, none of these birds are hybrids. Tundra swans can
and do have the eye bill relation you see in these photos-at least some do.
There is such a wide variation in tundra swans. I wonder what part of North
America these swans breed. If you look closely at the swan you will note
that it has a muted yellowish area at the lore.
