?????? Yesterday 12-17-11 I had a Great Egret interacting with a Great Blue Heron in the pond near the dike barricade at the end of Edie rd. Also of interest Bonaparte's gulls and a single G. Yellowlegs on the pond. Short-eared Owls all over the place but I could not spot a Snowy Owl across the channel. One of my favorite sightings was a large buzzing group of Bushtits. Those little guys are my favorite. Another cool sighting was a Red Tail Hawk on one of the pilings that was being dive bombed by a vocal female Northern Harrier. Got some cool shots of action. The hawk never moved off the piling but it also never took it's eye off the harrier. I am not sure why she was so upset but she kept at the hawk for at least 5 minutes.
